"Step+" Macao X Greece Dance Exchange Program 2018.09.24 - 2018.10.06 Activities include: Morning Class I &II, Partnering Workshop, Creation Workshop, Double Bill Performance, Scholarship to “One Small Step” International Dance Festival "Step +” is a project which aims at connecting emerging dance festivals with Macao. This year, “Step+” connects with “One Small Step” International Dance Festival from Corfu, Greece and brings the creativity and passion in the Greek contemporary dance scene into Macao through a number of workshops and co-creations, so that dance lovers in Macao can bridge with Greek choreographers and start exploring dance together by establishing a conversation. “One Small Step” International Dance Festival in Greece hosts a diversified range of activities, including master classes, performances, studies on movement and urban landscape etc. All such activities are inspired by and collaborated with the Festival directors and founders,Christina Mertzani and Evanglelos Poulinas, who brought many renowned international artists into the city throughout the nine past editions of the Festival. “Step+” isinspired by this and wishes to gradually build from this small beginning step an international platform of developing dance festivals for the sustainable growth of the Macao dance environment (https://enamikrovima.eu）. From 2018.09.24 to 2018.10.06, we will invite Evangelos Poulinas and Chrisitna Mertzani to host a number of workshops, creative activities, and a performance in Macao. “One Small Step” International Dance Festival

"One Small Step" is being organised since 2010 by free fall / ελεύθερη πτώση under the artistic direction of Christina Mertzani and Evangelos Poulinas. It holds performances, workshops, exhibitions, video projections etc.In all those 7 years renowned artist from all over the world have been invited to perform, teach and create work in Corfu.
The city is a stage. Its buildings, its streets, its squares and its people perform in it. And the public space reveals itself as the ideal ground for the artists to express the contemporary artistic creation, to unfold the ideas and images of contemporary dance, to exchange knowledge, inspiration and visions, to colour the city. The artists of an urban dance festival change the entire image of the city, without ever interfering in it! The city transforms into a platform for communicating ideas, into a fountain of creative stimulation, a meeting point and common frame of reference for dancers and spectators.
The festival takes place everywhere in the city. In its squares and streets, in familiar public buildings. The urban landscape thus embodies both dancers and spectators: anyone present in the city of Corfu during the festival can watch the events – and maybe even participate in them.

Christina Mertzani
Christina graduated as a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher from the Athens State School of Dance in 2004."without trace", Christina’s first choreographic video work, got an award by the British Council in2014.Ever since, Christina has been working internationally as a choreographer, performer and teacher. She has choreographed for V.Void, Arthrosis, Di.Pe.The.Corfu, SOZO among other projects and as a founding member of “free fall”, she has presented ''metamorfosis'', ''inside'', "mix-up", “cube", “alternative bodies" and the video dance "entanglement", "reborn temptation", "60 pulses" in Greece, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. As a performer Christina has worked with Stella Zannou, Kostandin Mixos, Kat Valastur, Apostolia Papadamaki, Maria Gorgia, Sofia Spyratou and danced choreographies by Wim Vandekeybus, Mark Morris and Martha Graham. In the last 12 years, she has been teaching extensively in Europe and leading Master classes, workshops and intensives for both dancers, companies, theatres, Universities studios and dance schools such as: cie.toula limnaios, Marameo, Staatstheater Osnabrück, Landesbühnen Sachsen, Staatstheater Kassel, Staatstheater Heidelberg, Tanzbüro Basel, Staatstheater St. Gallen, Staatstheater Bern,Nachschub, HJS Profitraining Amsterdam , SOZO visions in motion, Landestheater Linz, Anton Bruckner University. Evangelos Poulinas
Evangelos holds an MFA in dance from the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, a Diploma from the Athens State School of Dance and a Bachelor from the Physical Education Department, Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. He has been credited with scholarships from numerous prestigious foundations, such as Alexandros S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, New York University, Greek State Scholarship Foundation and DanceWEB Europe. As a creator, Evangelos has shown work in the U.S.A. and Europe and as a performer, he has danced creations by Johannes Wieland, Maxine Doyle, Katarzyna Gdaniec and Marco Cantalupo, Marcel Leemann, Constanza Macras, Konstantinos Rigos, Nigel Charnock, Jasmin Vardimon and Wim Vandekeybus among others. As a teacher, Evangelos has taught contemporary technique, partnering and community dance classes in Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Greece, Austria, U.S.A. and Sweden. Evangelos is co-founder of “b12”. Since 2010, Christina and Evangelos co-direct "One Small Step" international urban dance festival in Corfu / Greece.
